My "Yamamutt" Project
by PerformanceX
objective: take an ordinary old P.O.S. Yamaha Phazer and improve it (so it becomes slightly less of a P.O.S.)
***I am now parting out this sled. Email performancex@usa.com for anything you need.

THE SEAT---
The old seat was pretty much trashed. I was planning on just getting black
racing tape and taping the heck out of it, but I happened to find a replacement
seat cover for this sled down at Haydays. Must be fate.
When I took off the old seat I found the original plywood had pretty much turned to dust. ( I guess 16 years of neglect will do that to Japanese wood.) Also, the foam was falling apart, so I taped it up so it would stay together until I put the new cover over it. Here's the components:
Got some nice new wood, and set to sanding it so no burrs would tear through the new seat cover. I took extra precaution around the corners with the sanding block. Nice and smooth. Seemed like it was going to fit.
Here I put the components in place on the plywood, and then bolted down the tank shroud and trunk, and taped the taillight wire in place:
Here you see the rear bolts. The bolts heads are welded to that steel
strip. The strip also has a short screw thru it to hold it down on the
wood.
And here we have a complete seat. I am pleased with the result:
